Eglinton Country Park

As it was a sunny day and a was taking a break from shopping, I visited Eglinton Country Park which is just two miles away. Once part of the estate of Eglinton House, the building is now ruined and there are large areas of countryside to walk. There is also a cafe to rest in after your walk.

The site is littered with remains of the house, not only the building itself so, as you walk through the trees, you come across these remnants which makes it more interesting.

It was a bit muddy at times so this is probably the sort of place to visit in the spring and summer. Still, it’s very handy having such a large park so near to home.

Not actually Kilwinning, but Irvine which is 4 miles down a dual carriageway to the south. Park in the Rivergate shopping centre car park (free) and these…
