Sunshine ahead!

It’s been a pretty wet three weeks since I arrived, although to be expected in autumn. The flat is warm so I don’t mind watching the rain falling but I have missed the opportunities of exploring my new surroundings. Now the weather forecast suggests a week of cool but dry weather with some sunshine – hurrah! Out with the maps and make some decisions on what to explore.

Hopeful forecast

I have been out in the car, mostly shopping, and there have been plenty of pools over the roads when it has been raining but, unlike Devon, I haven’t had to drive through any floods, anxious that the engine won’t conk out halfway. And the roads are wide enough to move over to get around the pools in most cases.

Meanwhile, my flat is just about finished. I have a fridge, freezer, air fryer and microwave in the kitchen, a super desk for my laptops, and all necessary furniture for my bits and pieces. Now it’s mostly just decorations to find – a few pictures for the walls and some plants to provide a bit of life (or virtual life in the case of the artificial ones). Looking at the photos I took when I arrived, with no carpets or furniture, it’s surprising how quickly a “warehouse” can become a home. I am now settled in and happy in both retirement and my location.
